Please make sure you are working on the Genre Challenge! Below you will find the log to track the books. If you are needing help coming up with a book idea for a genre please let me know and I will offer some suggestions.
Thank you to all the parents who came out to open house during the wonderful weather. I understand if you were not able to make it. I have uploaded the Powerpoint and other documents that were given out last night. Please take a look at everything. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

We are a Peanut Free classroom. Please make sure you are not sending a snack that contains any peanut products. For birthday celebration, please make sure you are sending in a treat that is store bought with it's label. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Each Friday, your child will write to you in this Home/School
Journal telling you about his/her week. Please respect that this is an
unedited piece of writing, whose purpose is both to help your child
think about the week’s learning, and to communicate with you. It will
be YOUR homework to respond to your child by writing back to him/her
in the journal. It is your child’s responsibility to bring the journal
back to school each Monday (or when there is a Monday holiday, it is
due back on Tuesday).
Some suggested sentence starters are listed inside the front cover of the journal, for both you and your child. I am hoping that this will be an effective way to increase your child’s communication about school, and to keep you informed of progress and/or concerns. I’m hoping you’ll enjoy this as well!
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding your homework!
What a great first week! I know this year is going to be fabulous! If you haven't turned all your paperwork, please make sure you get it in me as soon as possible. The kiddos are super excited about the new House System! They are very eager to earn points for their color house! The class learned what house they belonged to by having a paper snowball fight! They had so much fun with it! Check out the video on the shutterfly account!
Target teachers will be holding a gifted eligibility meeting on Thursday, August 25th at 6:00 PM in the media center. This meeting is for parents of students at all grade levels, 1-5. It is not meant for parents of current Target students. This meeting will address eligibility requirements for students who have not yet qualified and will be testing this fall. We will also address procedures for parent referrals for testing.
